A cold front interrupted the Chicago area’s streak of record-setting warmth, bringing with it minor snow accumulations throughout the area late Monday into Tuesday morning.
The snow fell pretty much as predicted: the heaviest snow bands came through between 10pm and 4am, leaving around an inch in most locations. Far southern sections received less than an inch while a few spots picked up more than two inches, including Crystal Lake (2.2″) and Merrillville, IN (2.9″).
Windy conditions with gusts peaking up to 35-45 mph resulted in widespread blowing and drifting snow.
There is a slight chance for a few flurries late Friday into Saturday morning, and any accumulating snow is expected to be minor.
