A slow-moving weather system brought an end to Northern Illinois’ snow drought on Saturday. Snowfall began between 8 and 10 am Saturday and ended around 3 am Sunday in the Rockford area and between 4-6 am in the Chicago area, making this a long duration event.
Intensities of snowfall for this storm were not very uniform, resulting in amounts that vary from one location to another. Totals between 2-4″ were the average for most of the region north of I-80, with generally lighter amounts near the state line and heavier amounts south of I-80.
The weekend snow brought seasonal totals up to anywhere between 6.7″ in Oak Forest and 23.6″ in Wauconda.
