A storm system developing in the Central U.S. will track north into Northern Illinois and bring up to 5″ in some parts of the area.
Light snow will spread into the area late Friday into early Saturday. The heaviest snowfall will occur to the south, with lesser amounts forecast for Rockford and along the IL-WI border. At this time, less than 1″ is expected from Rockford to Lake County; 1-3″ along I-90 to I-80; and 2-5″ south of I-80.
This is expected to be a long duration event, with snow leaving the area very late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.
Despite the lack of significant snowfall so far this season, Arctic is ready for whatever this system brings and will continue to monitor the situation throughout the storm.
