Snow is expected to develop from west to east across northern Illinois this evening, beginning between 8 and 10pm. Snowfall should be light, around 1/2″ to 1″ near the Wisconsin stateline, and primarily along and north of the I-88 corridor. Snow will taper to around .1″ further south towards the I-80 corridor. Any activity after 4-5 am should be very light and out of the area between 6-8 am Thursday morning.
There is also a 30% chance of additional light moisture Thrusday night into early Friday morning. This looks to be a light freezing rain event with temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s.
Temperatures will rise into the mid 40s with steady rain on Saturday. Up to 1″ of raninfall is predicted, which given frozen ground and snow cover would likely produce considerable runoff and the potential for some flooding, especially with some snow melt of our high water content snow pack.
