While all weather eyes are following winter storm Avery making its way from the southwest to the northeast and New England, Chicagoland is not completely escaping the snow.
Areas around Morris, Joliet and southern Cook County are expected to get up to an inch of snow, which started around 6:00 am. The front moved northeast to reach Lake County around 9:00 am but Rockford may be missed entirely. Rain may mix with the snow, but most activity is expected to end around 2-3:00 pm.
There is a slight chance of light snow again late Friday night into early Saturday morning.
