As first mentioned in our last alert, the second fast-moving clipper system in two days will impact our region late tonight into early tomorrow, blanketing the Chicago area with more snow, just in time for the Monday morning commute.
Light snow should begin falling around 1-2 am in the Rockford region and by 2-4 for most of Northeastern Illinois. The heaviest snow, with rates of 0.5″/hour, is expected between 7-11 am, before winding down in the early afternoon. Snow continues, however, in Northwest Indiana through the evening hours on Monday.
Overall, widespread accumulations of 2-3″ should be expected across the region, with lesser amounts far southwest of Chicago and possibly higher amounts in Northwest Indiana, as snowfall lasts longer into the day.
Temperatures tumble on Tuesday, with a low of -8° for Chicago, before rebounding on Thursday, along with another possible snowfall for Thursday night.
