Chicago will receive another round of accumulating snow and mixed precipitation tonight into Saturday.
Areas southwest of Chicago will begin seeing snow around 3 pm, while Chicago will see flakes start falling around 5 pm as the system tracks northeast. A few hours of moderate snow is possible with heavier bands this evening. Snow will then become mixed with freezing rain and sleet after 10-11 pm, before changing over to freezing rain and rain after 1 am Saturday morning. Light drizzle is expected throughout Saturday morning before changing back to light snow showers around Noon.
Snowfall amounts are expected to be in the 1-3″ range south of I-80, while areas north of I-80 will see an average accumulation of 2-4″ of snow and sleet.
Temperatures will fall sharply Saturday night and remain cold with drier conditions through Tuesday.
