A wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain is expected to affect the area on Tuesday.
Precipitation will overspread portions of Northern Illinois on Tuesday morning and continue throughout the afternoon. This mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain may change to mostly freezing rain and/or rain as temperatures are expected to gradually warm above freezing in the afternoon and evening hours. Some light snow may follow late Tuesday night into the early overnight hours on Wednesday.
Accumulations of 1-2″ of snow and sleet are forecast, with the possibility of 1/10″ – 2/10″ ice accumulation as well.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for from 12 pm – 6 pm Tuesday for hazardous travel conditions during this time.
