A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for most of Northeast Illinois for Sunday morning through early Monday morning. Precipitation will start as rain and change over to snow Sunday morning. Total accumulations will be highest further northwest with 6″ or more expected around Rockford. Lesser amounts are forecast south and east of around 1-3″ in Chicago through Joliet, though higher amounts are possible here if the system’s storm front slows down or tracks further south. Wind gusts are expected to be in the 30-40 mph range which will lead to blowing and drifting and will make travel more difficult later in the day on Sunday.
